The city of Milan is cleaning up after getting hit by storms Wednesday night.
“The mayor has declared a state of emergency. We've got trees down, power lines down, Internet down. We've got some gas compromised from falling trees hitting meters on the side of the houses,” said Don Tillery, Chief of Police and interim administrator.
Some power poles were downed by the storm or leaning precariously.
Officials estimate about 60 percent of the city is without power.
“Some roofs have been compromised. We've got a portion of a roof on one of our apartment buildings that's been blown off, we got hit pretty hard by the weather event.”
No one was severely injured by the mayhem.
The city of six thousand people is about ten miles south of Ann Arbor. Crews from the nearby cities of Dundee and Saline are helping to clean up downed trees and limbs.
DTE Energy crews are working to restore electricity. AT&T crews were working to get the internet up and running.
It’s not clear when the emergency declaration for Milan will be lifted.
