It's Election Day, and voting precincts across the state are seeing a high turnout.
Ingham County is seeing signs of turnout that could rival presidential years, according to Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum.
"The phone has been ringing off the hook for voters trying to double check their polling location, their registration status, and all of that, and that’s usually indicative of what’s usually a presidential election," she says.
The turnout for this year’s primary was the highest Michigan had seen in decades.
The number of absentee ballots issued and returned for this election was already way up from the last midterm election.
Michigan’s former longtime elections director, Chris Thomas, predicted turnout this year would hit four million.
That would be the highest midterm election turnout in decades.
