Play Ball! Sports History in the Tri-Cities

Play Ball! Sports History in the Tri-Cities

TCHM's "Play Ball!" exhibit showcases the scrappy beginnings of specialty clubs and teams, documents the astounding variety (dog sledding! sailing! equestrianism! curling!) of sports where youth and adults, women and men, amateurs and professionals, leave it all on the field in pursuit of athletic perfection. We highlight our hometown sports heroes who went on to make it in big leagues. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the interactives included as part of this exhibit: a mini putting green, a recording of the Grand Haven 1954 football win over rival Holland, plus hands-on exploration of sports equipment textures, materials, and construction.

This exhibit opens to the public on May 20, 2023, and will be ongoing through September 26, 2023 during regular business hours. The Tri-Cities Historical Museum is open Tuesday-Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday-Sunday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Summer extended hours (Tuesday - Saturday until 8:00 pm) run from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Admission is free to the Tri-Cities Historical Museum.
