We should hear more specifics today about what needs to be done to return Flint to Detroit's water system.

Last week, state and local officials announced a plan to spend $12 million to reconnect Flint to Detroit's water system. But it’s not as easy as turning off one tap and turning on another.

There are legal and contractual agreements that have to be inked between Flint, Detroit water officials, and Genesee County. The county bought part of Flint’s old pipeline to Detroit.

There will also have be mechanical changes at Flint's water treatment plant.

But Flint officials say they have been working on all of this. They hope in two weeks they will be able to flip a switch and Detroit water will again flow to Flint.
