Reps. Haley Stevens (D-MI 11) and Debbie Dingell (D-MI 12) say they will vote in favor of both articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.
That means all seven Michigan House Democrats, and Independent Rep. Justin Amash, will vote yes on impeachment. The state's six House Republicans plan to vote no.
Both Stevens and Dingell announced their decisions Tuesday afternoon, one day after Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI 8) announced her vote.
In an interview with Stateside earlier in the day, Dingell declined to give a direct answer to how she plans to vote, although she did admit, "I'm sure [President Trump] is going to be very angry with how I'm going to vote - so I suppose I just told you how I'm going to vote."
She released a statement later in the afternoon, saying, “Throughout this process I have heard passionately from both sides. I spent significant time studying, reading reports with attention to detail, and listening to constitutional scholars and other experienced experts. My vote comes from thoughtful consideration of the facts and a commitment to our Constitution."
While Dingell is a longer-serving representative in a solidly Democratic district, Stevens and Slotkin are both freshmen members representing swing districts.
In a statement, Stevens said she will vote yes, and continue to focus on Michigan issues:
“The facts are clear that President Trump abused the powers of his high office and deliberately obstructed the congressional investigation into this abuse. I love our country and I am truly heartbroken that the President’s actions have led to this. I want my constituents to know that my desire to deliver for them has never been stronger and I will continue to work with all of my colleagues to deliver for Michigan families."
