Dough Dynasty is a four-part exploration of the history and impact of the chain pizza industry in America’s fast food system. Four of the largest chain pizza brands come from a small region in Michigan – including two of the three most profitable companies (Domino’s and Little Caesar’s). For this series we dug through archival interviews, did research and interviews in the field, and interviewed many top executives about the multi-billion-dollar pizza industry. We also cast the story forward by talking about the rise in popularity of Detroit Style Pizza on the national foodie scene. For this submission we present the first and fourth episodes in the series – demonstrating our research into both the history and the present pizza industry.
