2024 MAB Awards- Community Involvement

During Michigan Public’s December end-of-year fund drive, the station launched its first Meals for Michigan Hunger Challenge. Through a series of live and pre-recorded messages, Michigan Public members were encouraged to forgo a typical thank-you gift (such as a mug or tote bag) and designate the cost of the gift to be sent to the Food Bank Council of Michigan. By the end of the week, Michigan Public members had provided the equivalent of 33,107 meals for other Michiganders who were facing the prospect of food scarcity. This entry includes five pre-recorded appeals from on-air staff. Each pitch ends with the words "Here's how it works". At that point, a live host would offer details on how listeners could participate.
