Artist-led Workshop: Bas Relief Sculpture
Artist-led Workshop: Bas Relief Sculpture
Award winning Regional Biennial artist, Foster Willey, works in multiple media such as bronze, fabricated metal, pre-cast concrete, terra cotta, and stone. For the first part of class, participants will make a design on paper for a 9″ x 9″ decorative tile or bas relief sculpture, featuring images like faces, animals, flowers, etc. Then the design will be reverse carved into a sand mold with assorted wood tools. Towards the end of class, the completed carving will be filled with wet plaster to harden and set. Artwork will be removed from sand mold and completed, or it can be colored at a later time.
