Experts from the U.S. Centers for Disease Controlare helping the city of Detroit assess the COVID-19 spread in the city’s nursing homes.
124 Detroit nursing home residents have died since the outbreak began. Hundreds more have tested positive for the disease, though half showed no symptoms.
Detroit Chief Public Health Officer Denise Fair says four CDC clinicians are in town this week.
“They’ll help us with not only our nursing home strategy but also with our skilled nursing and assisted care facilities,” says Fair.
Mayor Mike Duggan expects the city should complete its COVID-19 testing program for the city’s nursing homes by Thursday.
