State employees are to work from home for two additional months because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This month, coronavirus infections in Michigan have increased to their highest level so far in the pandemic.
More than 340,000 Michiganders have been infected with coronavirus. Half of those people tested positive in the last six weeks. Now, state government is telling its employees to keep working from home, if feasible, until at least March 1. That’s a change from plans to go back to the office in January as first reported by Gongwer News Service.
Earlier this month, Michigan citizens were ordered to limit gatherings, wear masks in public and at all gatherings, high schools and colleges were to move to distance learning, and a temporary ban was instituted on indoor dining. The measures were touted as necessary to help slow the spread of the virus.

With high infection rates in many counties, and nearly 9,000 Michigan deaths attributed to the pandemic, public health officials are begging people to do what they can to slow the spread.
