Beatles' Record Firm, Apple Computer Return to Court
The Beatles' record company, Apple Corps is in court in London fighting Apple Computer over the iTunes Music Store. It's the latest battle in a long-running dispute with the U.S. company over the apple logo. Apple Corps says Apple Computer has violated an earlier agreement by using the logo on its iTunes Music site.

California Political Opponents Employ Web Animation
In California, the television airwaves are inundated with ads for and against Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's ballot initiatives in next Tuesday's vote. The campaigns are also using a relatively new medium to get their messages out: Internet animation. Tamara Keith of member station KPCC reports.

Europeans Meet to Hammer Out Iran Nuclear Deal
EU foreign ministers meet in Brussels to work out a deal with Iran on its nuclear program. The Bush administration and its European allies fear that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons. They hope to pass a U.N. Security Council resolution that would oblige Iran to halt all uranium enrichment work.

Delta, Northwest File for Bankruptcy Protection
Two major airlines, Delta and Northwest, file for bankruptcy protection. Delta is asking pilots for additional concessions on wages, and Northwest is reportedly moving to offer permanent positions to the mechanics who replaced those on strike.

White House to Tap Strategic Oil Reserve
The White House has approved the release of oil from the nation's strategic petroleum reserve. The move is designed to offset the large production cuts caused by Hurricane Katrina. The storm has idled most of the region's refineries.

Germany Faces Political Stalemate
Germany faces weeks of political uncertainty following the inconclusive results of Sunday's elections. The opposition Christian Democrats, led by Angela Merkel, failed to win a clear majority. The current chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder, says he can form a government, and has refused to step down.
