A gasoline industry analyst expects Michigan’s gas prices will continue to decline through the Memorial Day weekend. Gas prices peaked at well over $4.25 a gallon this month. But for the past few weeks, gas prices have declined steadily.
Patrick DeHaan is with GasBuddy.com. "Currently we’re on a downward trend. Prices averaging about $3.90 in the state of Michigan. They will likely continue to drop. We will likely bounce around…$3.50…$3.60 in the coming months. Until hurricane season , when prices may again reach 4 dollars.”
DeHaan expects motorists will be able to find lower gas prices through next week’s Memorial Day holiday weekend.
“There will be exceptions. Stations that don’t want to drop their price. Perhaps those stations…are full of expensive gasoline and they’re unwilling to drop prices. Its really going to range. Certainly…the trend through Memorial Day weekend should be on the downside…definitely good news for motorists.”
Gas prices might be down, but the average price for a gallon of gasoline in Michigan is still more than a dollar higher than what it was a year ago.
