38th Annual Fair Housing Workshop Series
The Fair Housing Center of West Michigan is hosting the 38th Annual Fair Housing Workshop Series, which will be held virtually on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 1 PM – 3:30 PM. The event platform (Zoom) will open at 12:45 PM with the program beginning at 1:00 PM. There are two consecutive workshops focused on fair housing in today's world featuring Dr. George Lipsitz (Professor, University of California, Santa Barbara) and Sara Pratt (Retired Counsel, Consultant). Please note: one of the two workshops has been granted 1 hour of Fair Housing Continuing Education (CE) credit by the CE Marketplace for real estate; only available on 4/22/26.
Workshop Descriptions:
Where We Live, What We Lose: The Real Costs of Housing Discrimination featuring author George Lipsitz, who will talk about his newest book, The Danger Zone is Everywhere: How Housing Discrimination Harms Health and Steals Wealth. This powerful book focuses on how unjust access to housing and health skews opportunities and life chances along racial lines.
Legal Update: Fair Housing in Today’s World featuring Sara Pratt, a renowned consultant, speaker, expert witness and trainer on fair housing and related issues. She will provide an in-depth look at changes in the landscape of fair housing enforcement as well as opportunities to work together to uphold housing choice.
