Motown Museum announced today the grand finale streaming date for its 9th annual Motown MIC: The Spoken Word competition. Ten talented poets will perform original Motown-inspired poems during the 2022 grand finale, which will stream on Motown Museum’s YouTube at 7 p.m. on April 15, 2022. Contestants are competing for the opportunity to be named the Motown MIC 2022 Artist of the Year, be published in a literary broadside through Broadside Lotus Press, $3,000 cash prize and more. The unique Hitsville Next programming from Motown Museum has played an important role in not only celebrating the incomparable Motown history, but also helping define its bright future by engaging and inspiring new generations of artists, entrepreneurs and creatives. Motown Museum’s Motown MIC: The Spoken Word competition is inspired by the legacy of Motown’s Black Forum Label. The ten poets in this year’s Motown MIC competition include: Arrie Lane, Ben Will, Cheyenne "CHii" Johnson, Dezha Peterson, Galaxy, Ife Martin, Koffee Dark 'n Sweet, Peniel Abrams, Soul Candy and T Elice.
