Michigan's housing industry may stumble in 2019

Analysts expect the nation’s housing industry will slow down in 2019.

But Michigan might be spared, at least for a while.

Daren Blomquist is with Attom Data Solutions. The company tracks the housing industry.

He says Michigan housing markets are still doing well, but could suffer if the nation’s economy takes a turn toward a recession.

“The underlying economy and job picture is what’s going to be driving either growth or contraction in the Michigan housing market in 2019,” says Blomquist.

Blomquist says there’s one ominous note.

Initial foreclosure filings have been rising this year in Detroit and Ann Arbor.
