The Michigan Board of Education is expected to pick a new state schools superintendent Tuesday.

Since former superintendent Brian Whiston’s death a year ago the day-to-day management of the Michigan Department of Education has been under interim Superintendent Sheila Alles.

Tuesday, the State Board of Education will hear once more from the three finalists for the superintendent’s job.

The finalists are: Kalamazoo Superintendent Michael Rice, Ann Arbor Superintendent Jeanice Swift and Wayne RESA Superintendent Randy Liepa.

Another finalist withdrew her name after she accepted a job in Boston.
