Michigan license plate cameras face backlash: Big help, or Big Brother?
In Michigan, over 125 cities and counties use automated license plate readers to help law enforcement locate missing people and catch criminals. However, privacy advocates are raising concerns about potential privacy infringements and data sharing beyond local boundaries. These worries have intensified amid aggressive deportation campaigns. Some cities, like Bay City and Ferndale, have reconsidered their contracts with Flock Safety, the company behind the technology.
