Hantavirus

One of the 18 Americans tested "mildly" positive for the virus during the U.S. return flight. A French woman has also tested positive — she was was among five French passengers repatriated to Paris.

Oceanwide Expeditions has revealed that 30 passengers disembarked from its cruise ship hit by a hantavirus outbreak on April 24, on the remote island of St. Helena, nearly two weeks after the first passenger died.

A cruise ship with nearly 150 people aboard was waiting for help off the coast of Cape Verde in the Atlantic Ocean after three passengers died in a suspected outbreak of the rare hantavirus.

Hantaviruses are usually spread by exposure to urine, saliva or feces from infected rodents, such as rats or mice. Hantavirus infections are rare but can cause deadly respiratory infections.
