Michigan Radio Wins Two Public Radio News Director Awards

Michigan Radio was recognized this past weekend with two awards from the Public Radio News Directors Incorporated (PRNDI). The station received a First Place award in the Large Newsroom-Interview category for “Living through the Flint water crisis” by Jennifer White. In the interview, Michigan Radio host Jennifer White sat down with three women raising kids in Flint amidst the city’s water crisis. The women shared their anger and frustration over the handling of the crisis, and their deep concern about what the crisis means for their families and also for the city and its residents.

The station also received a Second Place award in the Long Documentary category for “Not Safe to Drink.” The hour long documentary by reporter Lindsey Smith and other members of Michigan Radio’s news team, traced the history and story behind the Flint water crisis.

“I’m so proud of all the hard work our news team has put into covering the Flint water crisis,” said Michigan Radio News Director Vincent Duffy. “It’s great to see that hard work recognized as award worthy by our public radio peers.”
