Active-duty military members and their families will get free admission to more than 1,000 museums in the United States this summer. It’s part of the National Endowment for the Arts Blue Star Museums program. 129 of those museums are in Michigan.
Bob Sadler is with the Detroit Historical Museum. He says this is the second year the museum has participated in the program and they hope to continue:
“It’s a great way to give back, and to join museums all over the country in thanking our military personnel and their families for their service and sacrifice.”
Pat Adanti-Joy is with the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills. She says the museum is excited to welcome military families this summer:
“We are just very happy to extend something that can bring a little bit of recreation to military families.”
Active-duty service members with a military I.D. can bring up to five immediate family members to participating museums. The Blue Star program runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
