Dan Akerson, General Motors' CEO, told the Economic Club of Washington D.C. this morning that his company was humbled by its "near-death experience" during its 2009 bankruptcy.

As The Associated Press reports, Akerson said, "GM is well-positioned to take advantage of growth markets in China and India and benefit from its new plug-in electric car, the Chevrolet Volt."
