Michigan Alpaca Fest Returns for Its 28th Anniversary Celebration

Allegan, MI — The Michigan Alpaca Fest is proud to announce its 28th annual event, scheduled for April 18 and 19, 2026, at the Allegan County Fairgrounds, the renowned site of the Michigan Fiber Festival. As the nation's longest-running alpaca show, the fest continues its tradition of offering a rich and engaging experience for attendees of all ages.

Event Highlights:

Double Halter Shows: Featuring the Michigan Alpaca Fest and the Mi-Mitten Meltdown, both showcasing Huacaya and Suri alpacas.

Youth Competitions: Young alpaca enthusiasts will be competing with their animals on Saturday. They will navigate their animals through Showmanship, Obstacle, Public Relations classes, and a delightful Alpaca Costume Contest on Saturday at noon.

Walking Fleece Competition: Competitors will have one on one time with the judge who will provide insights into the quality and characteristics of the alpaca's fleece.

Artisan Fair: Offering a variety of products crafted from alpaca fleece, and other natural fibers. Watch for demonstrations of spinning and other fiber arts.

Silent Auction: Bid on various interesting items donated by the exhibitors and vendors

Herdsire Auction: Alpaca Farms can bid on the opportunity to breed their females to top quality male alpacas

Admission:

The event is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated and will support our youth events and vet student scholarships. Attendees are kindly requested to leave pets at home, as unfamiliar dogs can cause distress to the alpacas.
