Portraits in Power: Through the Lens of the Black Canon
We are excited to present our annual Detroit fundraising event which will serve to educate, inspire and foster community, while concurrently advancing our mission. This experience is designed to bring forward and connect diverse members of the Detroit art community, inclusive of local and diverse entrepreneurs. tastemakers, educators, professionals and supporters, while directly supporting the preservation and archiving of The Black Canon Collection.
The visual exhibit will feature exclusive original photography from the collection, focusing on various subjects on the Detroit scene in the 1960s and 1970s. In the spirt of legacy, we will also be showcasing visual pieces from James Wheeler's grandsons, Naiel Wheeler, and Tarron Carter.
