The Ann Arbor Concert Band began its “Shattering Glass Series” in March 2024 with a concert dedicated to women in winds. This series continues on March 9, 2025 with “Colors of the Winds,” a concert featuring the works of 5 contemporary Black composers who bring unique perspectives grounded in strong American musical traditions: Katahj Copley, Benjamin Horne, David Eastmond, Kevin Day and Omar Thomas. We are thrilled to welcome Willie McAllister, Jr., Damien Crutcher, composer Benjamin Horne and Phillip Rhodes as guest conductors joining artistic director and conductor David Leach. Also appearing are vocal soloist Ursula Mason and saxophone soloist Cole Oswalt.
