Sunday Afternoon Live is a non-profit outreach of the First Congregational Church in Battle Creek. Our mission is to bring high quality live music to the Battle Creek area free of charge. Tumbao Bravo led by Paul Vornhagen is the winner of three Detroit Music Awards. This exciting combo presents the authentic rhythms of Cuba with rich, jazz harmonic and original compositions written by band members. Mambo, cha cha cha, rumba and bolero are some of Afro-Cuban patterns explored. The instrumentation includes congas, bongos, timbales, guiro, claves, cowbell, saxophones, flute, piccolo, trumpet, flugelhorn, piano and acoustic/electric bass. A presentation appropriate for all ages, Tumbao Bravo also perform songs by composers such as Mongo Santamaria and Tito Puente.
