Students at community colleges around the state will be able to transfer more credits to four-year colleges and universities under a deal signed this week.
Erica Lee Orians is the executive director of the Michigan Center for Student Success at the Michigan Community College Association. She says the agreement gives community college students more choices about where to transfer.
“What we were able to do with this work is bring together all 28 community colleges and 25 public and independent colleges and universities in Michigan.”
Business, biology, psychology and criminal justice credits will transfer under the agreement.
“We selected these four programs because they’re popular programs, but we’ll also be extending this out to eventually at least a total of 12 agreements.”
Orians says that more deals are expected in other fields of study during the coming year.
