Campaign dollars adding up in Michigan governor's race

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Governor Rick Snyder's re-election campaign raised $2.5 million in the past eight weeks and has about $1.8 million in the final days before the November 4th election.

  Democratic challenger Mark Schauer's campaign took in $1.6 million and has about $1.4 million.

  The campaigns filed fundraising reports Friday covering late August through last weekend.

Schauer's top contributions included $53,000 from the Communications Workers of America union. Snyder got a $75,000 check from the Michigan Republican Party and the maximum $6,800 from numerous individual donors.

  Candidates for attorney general, secretary of state, Supreme Court and the Legislature also filed campaign reports Friday.
