National news about violenceis squeezing out news about local elections, with just a week before Michiganders go to the polls.
But a top national Democratic Party official doesn’t see that as a problem.
Jay Inslee is the governor of Washington State and the chair of the Democratic Governors Association. He was in Michigan over the weekend to rally party volunteers ahead of the November 6th election.
Inslee believes Democrats have the right message in the aftermath of the massacre at the Pittsburgh synagogueand pipe bombs sent to top critics of President Trump.
“And I do believe in these local races, everyone has a responsibility to speak for commonality and against division…and against ancient hatreds,” says Inslee.
The Democratic and Republican governors’ associations have both spent heavily on advertising in Michigan’s governor’s race.
