Legislators call on Inman to resign following extortion charges

The Speaker of the Michigan House filed a resolution Tuesday asking for Representative Larry Inman (R-Williamsburg) to resign.

The resolution was introduced by Republican Lee Chatfield and Democrat Christine Greig.

Greig says expelling Inman from the House is still on the table.

“The goal is to restore faith in our institution, and so we feel, not only for representing the district but also the institution itself, that we urge Representative Inman to resign,” Greig said.

Both publicly asked Inman to resign last month after he was charged with extortion, taking a bribe, and lying to the FBI.

In the bill they say Inman has “drawn ridicule and disgrace to the state” and warn of further discipline in the legislature if he doesn’t step down.
