Boil water advisories lifted for SE Michigan communities

The water is back on in four Metro Detroit communities that were under severe water usage restrictions since Sunday, and the boil water advisories have been lifted.

Auburn Hills officials distribute free water amidst "State of Emergency"

A massive 42-inch water transmission line rupture in River Woods Park has forced Auburn Hills to declare a State of Emergency, leaving Oakland County residents under strict water-use restrictions and a mandatory boil water advisory.

"This is not a drill. This is a very serious situation," said Orion Township Supervisor Chris Barnett. "It’s going to be very uncomfortable for our residents."

After water main break, officials say homes in Detroit’s Southwest will get repairs covered

A water transmission main broke in Detroit’s Southwest neighborhood early Monday. Detroit officials say the city will help pay to repair homes. Crews worked to reduce flooding and help people get out of flooded homes.

On Sunday, August 14, 20-feet of replacement pipe was delivered to the site from Texas. On Monday, August 15, GLWA completed the initial inspection of the 120-inch water main that broke this past Saturday. The inspection found more damage to the pipe than initially thought, which will require the acquisition of additional lengths of the water main.

SE Michigan Water main break larger than thought; boil water advisories expected until September

Great Lakes Water Authority officials say repairs and testing may take until September 3.

The Great Lakes Water Authority said Sunday that it had isolated a broken section of a 10-foot water main near Port Huron that led to more than 900,000 people being advised to boil their water on Saturday.
