It's Thursday – time for our weekly check-in with Detroit News business columnist Daniel Howes. 

 
He's picking through the rubble of the UAW's bid to unionize workers at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tenn.
 
We know that VW workers said "no thanks" to the UAW by a vote of 712-626, but what are the deeper implications of that "no" vote?
