Join us on a trek through history at the Forest Hill Cemetery! This walking tour will take you through Ann Arbor’s past, covering local and university history, along with pertinent cemetery fun facts.

Guided by student docents from the Judy and Stanley Frankel Detroit Observatory. Duration: 1.5 hours; 1.4 miles.

This tour includes many steep hills and terrain that may be difficult for some.

Tour will take place in rain or snow, but will be cancelled for severe weather (will email).

Guided Tour of the U-M Clements Library. Join us for a guided tour to learn more about the Clements’ early American history collections. Highlights include viewing of Benjamin West’s iconic painting “Death of General Wolfe,” a Revolutionary War-era trunk that once housed General Gage’s papers, and viewing our current exhibit “Who Counts? Celebrate the achievements of the Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan and reflect on how the reparations charity is impacting the community — and you — at its Fall Celebration & Fundraiser, Friday, Nov. 13!
The Justice League works to repair the breach and promote healing in the spirit of repentance for the sin of slavery, its aftermath of gross human rights violations and complicity in the misbelief of white supremacy.
The group has raised nearly $900K since its founding in 2021 to address the racial wealth gap in Greater Lansing through support of education, home ownership and entrepreneurship for African Americans. It is becoming a model for a faith-based reparations program beyond Greater Lansing.
At the Celebration:
— Review of 2026 reparations made: presentations, scholarships, homeowner support.
— Noted leader in agriculture Dr. Archie Tucker, will address “Reconciliation, Reparations, Beloved Community.”
— Dinner by Poppa’s Cookbook.

Choose your 1-Hr Glass Experience:

• Hot Shop: Shape molten glass and create a glass flower
• Flamework: Sculpt with fire using the torch and create a heart pendant
• Glass Casting: Pour molten glass into sand molds to create a glass tile
• Glass Fusing: Cut, arrange, and join glass using the kiln to create a seasonal glass mosaic

A2 Studio Tour is thrilled to announce its second annual self-guided studio tour, taking place on Saturday, and Sunday, November 14 and 15, from 11am to 5 pm.This free, family-friendly event welcomes art lovers, collectors, and community members to step behind the scenes and visit the private workspaces of 24 local artists across the Ann Arbor area.
This self-guided tour offers a unique window into the creative process, offering visitors the opportunity to view and purchase individual pieces, talk directly with creators and view works in progress. Participating studios will showcase a diverse array of mediums, including oil and watercolor painting, collage, mixed media, jewelry, photography, sculpture, glass, and printmaking. Some studios may offer demonstrations and special activities,

The Ann Arbor Studio Tour was started in 2025 by sculptor, photographer and painter Margot Neuhaus and jewelry designer and artist Idelle Hammond-Sass. It is loosely modeled on the Fall Art Tour in Rappahannock, Va where Margot participated. This event is unique in offering artists a way to engage with the public and showcase their works in progress, with the focus on their process and materials used. While work may be offered for sale, it is not the sole objective of the event.

Expanded programming hours every 4th saturday with a focus on family-friendly activities and fun

Changes over the course of the nineteenth century in how Americans voted, from voice vote to public ballot box to private voting booth, also saw changes in the material culture that surrounded voting. Ballots and ballot boxes, campaign pins and ribbons, blank lists and pre-printed party tickets, lanterns and banners–the creative forces of the American print industry filled the country’s cities and small towns with the ephemera of electioneering.

As you look at the items in this exhibit, think about what they tell us about how Americans in the past felt about voting, and about how voting felt. How did Election Days feel when they were full of parades and music and public drinking? What was it like to vote when everyone around you knew who you voted for? And, most of all, who counted as a voter, and who did the counting?

On view September 11-December 22, weekdays from 12-4 pm.
