An Oakland County teenager at the center of a controversial court case will soon be heading home.
She’s identified only as “Grace.”
A judge sent the 15 year old to the Oakland County Children's Village back in May, after she violated her probation on assault and theft charges. The violation? Not doing her school work.
Grace’s case led to public protestsand allegations of racism in the decision.
The Michigan Court of Appeals has noworderedthe 15 year old girl’s release.
According to the court’s order, ‘Grace’ will be released into her mother’s custody. She will also remain under the terms of her probation imposed by the trial court last April.
The girl is known by her middle name, Grace, to protect her privacy. Her detention has provoked outrage and national headlines.
