Mackinaw City hotel employee fired after video showing him insulting guest

Twitter

Update, May 28, 2021 at 11:45 a.m.:

The Detroit Free Press reports that Benny Lucchesse, the Crown Choice Inn & Suites employee in the viral video, has been terminated from his position.

Original post, May 27, 2021:

Jennifer Beila was on a trip to Mackinaw City with her friend and their five kids. They were staying at the Crown Choice Inn & Suites when she says they awoke to the sound of rushing water in their bathroom.

That’s when she went to the front desk for help.

In a now viral video, Beila is heard asking about the situation.

“I was laying in bed with my children and your bathroom started flooding. So your response is...”

A worker at the Crown Choice Inn & Suites responds, “You rented the room. It’s your room, ma’am. You’re responsible for that room.”

Stop being an idiot. And start thinking with your mind, ok? Stop being a democrat, a dumb democrat, and go to your room, pack your stuff and leave.”

Beila says she was forced to find another hotel in Gaylord.

An owner of the hotel says they’re aware of the situation and has apologized to the guest. He says the employee is currently suspended without pay but hasn’t been fired yet.

Angry callers have flooded Mackinaw City as a result of the video, which comes as the city prepares for tourists this holiday weekend.
