COVID-19 Continuing Coverage

On March 10th, 2020, the night of the state’s primary election, much of the Michigan Radio news team was already working late in the newsroom when Governor Gretchen Whitmer held a press conference to announce the state’s first confirmed cases of COVID-19. The news team suddenly had to grapple with a virus that quickly raged out of control and within weeks, drove Michigan to near the top of the list of hardest hit states in the country for COVID.
