Issues & Ale @ Home: The Future of the Republican Party in Michigan

Issues & Ale @ Home: The Future of the Republican Party in Michigan
Wednesday, April 7, 2021, 7:00 pm
Host: Zoe Clark

The Republican party is at a crossroads. While some Republicans say it's time to focus on traditional conservative values of limited government, lower taxes and balanced budgets, many others continue to express their steadfast commitment to former President Donald Trump above all else. Does the Republican party in Michigan have a future without Donald Trump? What's the GOP agenda going into the 2022 statewide elections? Could dissatisfied Republicans break away to form a third party?

Michigan Radio’s political junkie Zoe Clark hosted this fast paced discussion about the future of the Republican party in Michigan. Panelists included:

  • Ted Goodman, Communications Director for the Michigan Republican Party
  • Jeff Timmer, Co-founder of Republicans and Independents for Biden and senior advisor to The Lincoln Project
  • Emily Lawler, Capitol reporter for MLive
