The number of new COVID-19 cases tied to an East Lansing bar is starting to wane.
Harper's Restaurant and Brewhub became infamous in June for drawing large crowds of young people, not wearing masks or social distancing. The bar is now closed.
Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail says 174 cases have been linked to Harper's, including 33 secondary infections.
But Vail says the number of new cases is slowing.
“I would expect that number to start topping out any time now,” says Vail. “We tend to add one or two, or three a day when before we were just like we could barely keep up.”
Governor Gretchen Whitmer cited Harper's as an example when she ordered bars that don’t serve food in the Lower Peninsula to stop indoor drink service.
