U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee re-elected in Michigan's 8th District

Democrat Dan Kildee has won re-election to U.S. House in Michigan's 8th Congressional District.

Kildee defeated republican challenger Paul Junge.

Kildee was first elected to the House in 2012.

He succeeded his uncle, Dale Kildee, who held the seat for 36 years.

In a statement, Kildee celebrated a "hard-fought campaign victory," saying:

“Thank you to mid-Michigan voters for placing their trust in me to be their voice in Congress. I am eager to put this hard-fought campaign behind us and focus on the work ahead for Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Tuscola and Genesee Counties."
