City of Flint leaders say state lawmakers need to act to contain future water rate increases. The bill package would, among other things, ensure that water bills for low-income households do not exceed 3% of that household’s income.

Testing during the final six months of 2025 showed Flint’s tap water at the 90th percentile calculation of 6 parts per billion (ppb) for lead.

Flint, Michigan, is nearly finished replacing lead pipes 11 years after the water crisis. Financial struggles still cloud the water system's future.

“Probably those 31 lines still remaining to be replaced will happen before the end of this month," said Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley.
