Flint Promise expanding to Kettering University and UM-Flint

Recipients of the Flint Promise scholarship will soon to be able to choose from two additional universities.

Previously, Flint Promise scholarships could only be used to attend Mott Community College for up to three years.

Students who earned an associate's degree or certificate from Mott could then extend the scholarship at the University of Michigan - Flint for up to three years to earn their bachelor's degree.

Now, Flint promise students will be able to attend Kettering University or UM-Flint right after graduation.

The additional scholarships will be available beginning in the fall of this year.

Students must meet certain eligibility requirements.

That includes graduating from a high school in the city of Flint and graduating with a grade point average of one point eight or higher.
