Bethany Christian Services now says it’s open to placing children in homes with LGBTQ parents. The change applies nationwide.

Bethany is headquartered in Grand Rapids. It’s one of the nation’s largest providers of adoption and foster care services.

The agency had previously fought some efforts to make it open up services to LGBTQ homes. But its board of directors has now voted to change course, and “implement a nationwide policy of inclusivity.”

The new policy does not explicitly mention LGBTQ people or other groups.

But in a statement, Bethany says families now look different than they used to, and the agency is committed to welcoming and serving all of them.
