Our 3rd annual holiday family day is highlighted by a holiday craft workshop, a winter wonderland photo room, a hot cocoa bar, caroling, family games, a small artwork exhibition, and a young artist pop-up gallery. A great place for parents, grandparents, kids, families, and friends to have fun, create art, and shop for gifts! $10 per child (age 3+), Adults and children under 3 are free. MERRY & BRIGHT‘Tis the season to revel with the SMSO! Immerse yourself in an evening of joy, cherished traditions, and a melodic journey through holiday favorites. This festive celebration features the harmonious talents of local performing arts groups coming together in a heartwarming showcase of our vibrant and talented community.
A surprise special guest will invite children onstage to enjoy a live reading of The Night Before Christmas brought to life with music accompaniment. Concert attendees are invited to enter a drawing for a chance to receive a quick and fun “Conducting 101” lesson onstage with Music Director Matt Aubin before leading our Orchestra on Sleigh Ride! (see details below).

*The “Surprise Guest Conductor” drawing is open only to concert attendees. SMSO Staff, Musicians, and Board Members are not eligible. Registration is free and open to participants aged 5 years on up! Only one (1) entry per person; entries must be self-made and cannot name another individual.
THE VELVETEEN RABBIT live stage play, presented at The Stage at the Corner in Muskegon by the Actors Workshop of West Michigan. A 90 minute family friendly holiday production in downtown Muskegon (280 W Muskegon Avenue), with live music performed by the company and pre-show holiday carols by members of the Muskegon Chamber Choir. The love of a Boy and his Velveteen Rabbit becomes Real and ageless. Dec 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th at 7:00 pm, matinees Dec 13th and 14th at 1:00 pm. Adaptation by Scott Davidson, produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Services, Englewood CO.
