Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a security guard who refused to allow people into a store because one of them was not wearing a face mask to protect others from potential exposure to COVID-19.

Calvin James Munerlyn was working security at a Family Dollar in Flint. He allegedly refused to let a woman and her daughter into the store because one of them was not wearing a face mask. Later, two men argued with Munerlyn about the incident. Authorities say one of them allegedly shot Munerlyn in the head, killing him.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton says one of the suspects, Ramonyea Bishop, was arrested in Bay City at an apartment.

“Authorities entered the building, called into the unit in which they believed Bishop was hiding and he was taken into custody without incident,” Leyton said.

The other suspect, Larry Teague, Junior was arrested in Houston, Texas.

“Teague was captured near a motel in which he had registered under his own name in Houston. He is presently in the Harris County Jail,” the prosecutor said.

Leyton added that several agencies were involved in the investigation, including those in Texas.

“He was arrested by agents who had staked out the motel.”

The woman allegedly involved in the confrontation with the security guard, Sharmel Teague, is the wife of Teague and mother of Bishop. She was arrested earlier in the week.
