'Surrendered' hits bookstore shelves Tuesday

The memoirs of ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick are expected to go on sale at four small Detroit area bookstores.   A media company run by Kilpatrick's sister says in a release Monday that "Surrendered! The Rise, Fall and Revelation of KwameKilpatrick" will be available Tuesday.

The company says people who ordered copies should receive their books Monday.  Kilpatrick chronicles his political ascent and fall fueled by a text-messaging sex scandal involving his former top aide.  The book sells for $26.95 a copy.

A judge has ruled Kilpatrick's profits will be placed in escrow to help satisfy $860,000 in  restitution he still owes Detroit as part of his plea to a 2008 criminal case. Kilpatrick was released Aug. 2 from a Michigan prison and lives in the Dallas area.
