A new competition show called Forged in Fire starts tonight on the cable channel History.

Contestants will be challenged to make swords and knives, including period-specific weapons like medieval broadswords or ancient throwing blades.

One of the four contestants is Adam Ison, a Detroit blacksmith, bladesmith, metal artist and welder. He's the owner of Forge Detroit.

About the show Ison said, "it's a lot of emotions, a lot of ups and downs, and you just got to make it work with the skills you got."

Forged in Fire premieres tonight on History at 10 p.m. EST.
