Library experiments with curbside pickup

Some Lansing public library branches will be offering curbside pickup starting Monday.

Scott Duimstra is the executive director of the Capitol Area District Library.

He admits they are following the lead of grocery stores and fast food restaurants.

But he insists curbside pickup is not going to change the nature of public libraries in Lansing.

“I definitely don’t see this service as following that model of retail where it’s basically just a warehouse.  People are driving up and you’re bringing things out.”

Three of the Capitol Area District Library’s branches will offer the service.
