Community Calendar

Many associate the architecture of the University of Michigan Law Quadrangle with the Renaissance, the Ivy League, or even Hogwarts. While strolling through the Quad, we’ll discuss the buildings from conception to construction and the Law School’s influence on social issues and legal education.

Explore the first 70 years of U-M history, from the University’s Native American land accession and its origins in Detroit in 1817 to its move to Ann Arbor and emergence as a research university after 1837. We’ll traverse the original 40-acre campus, learning about the professors, presidents, and students who walked the Diag nearly two centuries ago.

U-M has long been home to activism, and this walking tour will visit historically significant locations where you will learn about protests on campus. We will cover women’s activism, the legacy of the Treaty of Fort Meigs, the Black Action Movement, anti-Vietnam War activism, and more.

(If your child wants to run the kid's dash, and doesn't want the SWAG, they are welcome to run with us on race day for free!)

Kick off the holiday season at the Packard Proving Grounds with the Packard Farmers Market’s annual Harvest Holiday Market!

Spend the afternoon shopping more than 75 local farmers, artisans, makers and small businesses offering fresh-baked goods, handcrafted jewelry, handmade soaps, unique crafts, holiday gifts and more. It’s a festive way to get a head start on your holiday shopping while supporting the local vendors and small businesses that make our market community special.

Visitors can also explore the historic Packard Proving Grounds and learn more about this important piece of automotive history during their visit.

Join us on a trek through history at the Forest Hill Cemetery! This walking tour will take you through Ann Arbor’s past, covering local and university history, along with pertinent cemetery fun facts.

Guided by student docents from the Judy and Stanley Frankel Detroit Observatory. Duration: 1.5 hours; 1.4 miles.

This tour includes many steep hills and terrain that may be difficult for some.
