More than just another Kalamazoo event, 269 Fest brings together concerts, block parties, local markets, and community experiences that highlight the best things to do in Kalamazoo. Rochester Christian University and UnCovered Theatre Present Shakespeare Upon Avon: The Winter’s Tale

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – Rochester Christian University Theatre Company presents The Winter’s Tale, as part of the annual award-winning Shakespeare festival, Shakespeare Upon Avon.

Shakespeare Upon Avon is an award-winning outdoor theatre festival performed in beautiful Lake Norcentra Park on RCU's campus. Don’t miss this year’s epic tale of jealousy, loss, and redemption. Grab your favorite lawn chair or picnic blanket and join us for The Winter’s Tale!

Performances of The Winter’s Tale will be September 17-20 and 24-26 at 7:30 p.m. and with matinee on September 20 at 2:30 p.m.. All performances will take place in performance spaces on the campus of Rochester Christian University at 800 W. Avon Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307. Performances on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays will take place in the outdoor theatre behind Palmer Hall. Accessing the outdoor theatre requires walking down fifteen (15) steps. Sunday performances will take place in our fully accessible, indoor space: the Richardson Academic Center Theater. Tickets are $5 for students and $18 for adults, with discounts available for seniors, veterans, and alumni. Yes, a fine art fair can also be funky. We focus on art that has a bit of an edge. Traditional techniques but non-traditional images. We include all mediums. Audience ranges from art lovers looking for more interesting work to art lovers that have not yet realized that passion. Your most unusual work will sell. Suggested price points under $1000.

For many cultures across East Asia, family and friends come together for the mid-autumn Full Moon with festivities, delicious food, and good company. The Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies, U-M Astronomy, the Nam Center for Korean Studies, and the Center Japanese Studies invite you to the Judy & Stanley Frankel Detroit Observatory for a celebration of the Mid-Autumn Full Moon.

This drop-in program includes activities in the observatory classroom, exploration of the historic observatory, and telescope viewing of the Moon! Families are welcome! Free and open to the public.

Presented by InsideOut Literary Arts, this free, all-ages festival brings art, poetry, and wellness to downtown Detroit. Catch moving performances by talented youth poets, try group wellness activities like cardio-drumming, yoga, and the hustle, enjoy art and music stations, and take home free books! Bring the whole family for food trucks, hands-on fun, and a Saturday packed with Detroit spirit.
