The Moth Mainstage returns to East Lansing this fall! Join Michigan Public and Wharton Center for Performing Arts for an evening of extraordinary true stories about what happens when there's no clear path—only the courage to keep moving forward.
Storytellers will share tales of balancing without a net, trusting your gut, and taking the leap before you know where you’ll land. The Moth Mainstage features a line-up of writers, performers, and other unique national and Michigan storytellers, each with a ten-minute story to tell live.
The Moth Mainstage takes place on Friday, November 13, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. at Wharton Center for Performing Arts, 750 E Shaw Lane, East Lansing, MI.
Public on sale begins on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 10 a.m.
The Moth Radio Hour debuted in 2009 and delights audiences on more than 400 public radio stations nationwide. The Moth Radio Hour can be heard on Michigan Public each Saturday at 12:00 noon and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Live jazz has the power to inspire, promote community, and encourage empathy for all people, not just musicians. The mission of this performance is to provide world class jazz to students with low exposure to the music. Additionally, through the generous support of Michigan State University’s Running Start Program, entrance to the show is completely free!
Preston hopes to honor the storied history of Detroit jazz by playing compositions by some of Detroit’s finest musicians, alongside some of the city’s current torch-bearers in Rodney Whitaker and Xavier Davis.
Preston Fox is a guitarist, composer, and educator from Indianapolis, Indiana, and a proud product of the city’s vibrant jazz scene. Preston is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University, where he studies under renowned jazz guitarist Professor Randy Napoleon. Preston Fox will be joined by an all star band featuring Rodney Whitaker on bass, Xavier Davis on piano, and Alonso Umana on drums.

Award-winning jazz pianist and composer Dabin Ryu brings a distinctive voice shaped by her roots in Seoul and her career in New York City. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and The Juilliard School, Ryu has performed with acclaimed artists including David Virelles, Randy Brecker, Anat Cohen, and Billy Harper.
Winner of the 15th UNISA International Piano Competition and the 2025 Jazz Gallery Residency Commission, Ryu has earned praise for performances that combine “fierce chops and control” with crisp, authoritative ideas. The NYC Jazz Record has called her “a force,” citing her bright energy, deep awareness of jazz history, and extraordinary command at the piano.
Ryu balances an active performing career with teaching as an associate professor at Berklee College of Music, continuing to shape the next generation of jazz musicians while pursuing her own work as a compelling artist “to keenly watch.”

This weekly event will be Hosted and featured by multi-Detroit Music Award recipient Sky Covington Ft. Club Crescendo Terrance Neal on Drums, Phil Hale on Keys and Ibrahim Jones on Bass. The jam session starts on the second set.
Woodbridge Pub has a great menu… cash bar and a great staff. Also, excited to announce the new performance stage and outside ambience across the street from the Pub. Enjoy Jazz, cocktails and dinner under the stars. Although table and benches are available, feel free to bring your own lawn chairs

Pianist Caelan Cardello brings imagination, lyricism, and deep musical connection to every performance. Praised by Bill Charlap for playing that is “an extension of his soul,” Cardello has performed with celebrated artists including Christian McBride, Jimmy Cobb, and Randy Brecker.
This performance marks a return to Kalamazoo for Cardello, who previously appeared at Sounds of the Zoo in 2023. A finalist in both the 2026/27 American Piano Awards and the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Piano Competition, he is equally at home leading his own trio or collaborating with fellow artists. Among his notable collaborations is Rufus Reid Presents Caelan Cardello, a duo album with NEA Jazz Master Rufus Reid that grew from an impromptu showroom performance and was released in 2023.
A graduate of The Juilliard School, Cardello blends a strong foundation in both jazz and classical music with performances marked by spontaneity and expressive storytelling.
