Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense” was one of the most influential works of the American Revolution. The first edition was published on January 10, 1776, with an initial print run of just 1,000 copies; but within weeks demand soared. The students of Andy Murphy’s POLISCI 495 course co-curated the exhibition “Revolutionary Paine” to document the whirlwind caused by its publication. On view at the Clements January 16-May 8, weekdays from 12-4 pm.

STOMP is explosive, inventive, provocative, witty, and utterly unique – an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered armfuls of awards and rave reviews, and has appeared on numerous national television shows. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

Year after year, audiences worldwide keep coming back for more of this pulse-pounding, electrifying show. As the Boston Globe says, “If you haven’t seen STOMP, GO! If you have seen it, take someone and share the pleasure!”

Envision the stage at the Heritage Theatre at Dow Event Center illuminated by 1,000 brightly lit candles as The Rock Orchestra By Candlelight open their performance on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026, in Saginaw, Michigan. This will not be your standard performance. Welling forth will be a chillingly beautiful reimagining of famed tracks from bands like Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Rage Against the Machine, Evanescence, and others. Having delighted over 700,000 fans across the USA, Europe, as well as the UK, The Rock Orchestra returns on its grand journey with its 2026 circuit, striking spots like Mayo Civic Center in April plus Canadian dates in March. Widely known for their hit performances of tracks such as "Enter Sandman," "Sweet Child o' Mine," and "Bring Me to Life," where every appearance was arranged with expansive strings and hard-hitting percussion beneath flickering candlelight. Without opening acts accompaniment, this collective of gifted artists will stand alone.

This exhibition honors the commitment of our members from SE Michigan and beyond, whose support plays a vital role in bringing our mission to life. We welcome the public to discover the unique artistic voices and styles of over 100 member artists.

A ghost light is a single bulb left burning in a theater between performances, when the space is “dark.” A combination of safety, tradition, and superstition, the ghost light helps us avoid unseen obstacles in an unoccupied theater and keeps any artistic spirits who might reside there happy while the theater is unused. This season, as the Bower undergoes renovation and the Elgood remains dark to accommodate construction, Flint Rep’s Ghost Light Cabaret series will be keeping the lights on in our home venue. Join us on the first Wednesday of the month in the Elgood Lobby, transformed into an intimate club-style performance venue, for these one-night-only evenings of curated music, storytelling, and fun.
